Karen Ingham

Dr. Karen Ingham was born in England but raised in America, Germany and Norway before returning to Britain to study fine art, photography and filmmaking. She has lived in Wales for the past 25 years and divides her time between her international studio practice and working as a Professor of Art, Science and Technology Interactions at Swansea College of Art, part of University of Wales Trinity St. David.

Ingham is internationally exhibited and published and her work is in several collections. Her practice is interdisciplinary and is predominantly lens-based. She is a long-standing collaborator with Ffotogallery, with whom she most recently exhibited the solo exhibition and publication Wonder Chamber in 2012. Her current practice explores the hybridity between physical and digital embodiment and materiality as manifested in the projects States of Mind with the RCA and the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology in Liverpool, and Facescapes and Physiognomic Landscapes, part of ‘Crafting Anatomies’ and soon to be presented in the forthcoming ‘Creative Practice’ conference and exhibition at Aarhus in Denmark.
