@_diffusion #lookingforamerica day 3: taken in West Winfield, where my sister and attended school for four years. I remember the morning ritual of the Pledge of Allegiance; and how hateful it was to be ridiculed for my English accent. My mother captioned this picture "The late lamented Lark" - a reference to the make of car in which she learned to drive as soon as we arrived in America. An incurably nervous driver, she communicated a sense of fear to her backseat passengers, and I was always glad when my Dad took back the wheel. As so often with photography, what we see here suggests a very different story. The car itself reminds me of how much I loved our Sunday drives through the foothills of the Adirondack mountains, the miles unrolling for hours as I gazed out of the window. #autumn #memories #photography #diffusion2015
