‘This Is Not My Beautiful House’ comprises of 55 North American snapshot photographs from the private collection of Marc Arkless. They date from the second half of the 20th century, roughly between 1950 and 1980, and mostly collected from internet auction sites.

The anonymous photographs are more than objects of cultural nostalgia, not only do they present a very personal insight into a fascinating period in American history, but also highlight the influence vernacular imagery had upon photographic art practice in the 1970’s and beyond.
