PICTURE YOURSELF: a lively half-day workshop run by staff from the University of South Wales, exploring the 'selfie' as a way of presenting ourselves to the world online. The workshop will be delivered by Celia Jackson and Marcus Ahmad, lecturers on the BA (Hons) Photography course based at the ATRiuM Campus, Cardiff. We will explore the genre of photographic self-portraiture from its earliest days, then turn our cameras on ourselves and one another. We'll look at how and why we take pictures of ourselves, and what we want these images to say about us. Do they reveal more or less than we intended? We'll also examine what happens when a stranger photographs us – the results may be unexpected, even startling, but always thought-provoking. Bring a digital camera (point and shoot is fine) or a cameraphone.
