Stephen McLaren is a Scottish photographer, writer and curator living in San Francisco. He used to make television documentaries before rediscovering the seductive nature of seeing the world though a stills camera. When not shooting assignments he photographs documentary projects that interest him and writes books about photography for the publisher, Thames and Hudson. McLaren is a member of the documentary photography collective, Document Scotland, and has exhibited several times with them. Document Scotland’s current exhibition, "The Ties That Bind", is currently showing at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.
